Lidocaine is used to numb the working area and care is taken to ensure a virtually pain free experience. Working in sensitive areas such as the eyelids has been described by some patients as a little uncomfortable. You will feel the vibrations of the coil machine and some pressure.

How do I choose the color and shape?

Prior to any procedure, every patient is given a makeover session using traditional makeup to help ensure the look that is desired is achieved.

How long does it take?

Each consultation can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. The actual procedure takes about 1 hour on average and could be a little longer depending on what you are having done. Numbing time can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes depending on the procedure.

Will I need to take off work?

No. You should be able to resume normal activity and return to work the next day after a procedure. You may experience some swelling, but this is minimal if aftercare instructions are followed.

What do I have to do to take care of my permanent makeup application?

Immediately following your procedure you will need to ice the affected area or apply a cold compress. If using ice, you will need to wrap in paper towel so you do not soak the area. Use A&D ointment directly after your procedure, provided by the clinic, and reapply it day an night to the area for 7 days to ensure the best healing. Do not swim or get the area too wet for at least one week. Fast showering is allowed.

Can I wear traditional makeup over my permanent makeup?

Yes, you can utilize traditional makeup over your permanent makeup to create a more dramatic look when you desire it.

Are many people allergic to the pigment used?

It is not common and not likely to create an allergic reaction. If you have experienced allergies in your past or if you desire, a spot test can be done prior to actual procedure. If you experience any adverse reaction, consult your physician immediately.

What is Skin Needling?

Skin Needling is a procedure that uses multiple needles < 0.25mm in diameter, to pierce the skin and create tiny injuries deep in the skin. These dermal injuries lead to new collagen formation via the normal skin repair mechanisms. Skin Needling also perforates and softens fibrous scar tissue enabling the deposition of new collagen. The new collagen fills depressed scars and wrinkles from the bottom up lifting the depression so they are level with the surrounding skin. This process takes 2-3 months to produce visible results and can also help thicken thin skin.

What can Skin Needling treat?

  • Scarring
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Sun-damaged skins

Contra-indications (Reasons why Skin Needling may not be suitable for you)

  • Roaccutane use in the last 6 months
  • Dermatitis or infection in the area to be treated
  • Pregnancy
  • Keloid scars
  • Abnormal wound healing

How many treatments will I need?

All skin types responds differently and most will need multiple treatments at 6-8 week intervals, depending on the initial condition being treated, and the desired outcome.

Please note: A very small number of skin types will have a minimal response to needling, individual results will vary.

What does it feel like?

You may feel some pressure or vibration. Topical anesthetic is applied prior to your procedure to alleviate pain. Treated area may be sore for several days after procedure.

How will my skin look after the treatment? (This will vary according to the size of the area being treated)

  • Mild to moderate redness and sensitivity in the treated area lasting 12 to 48 hours
  • Mild to moderate swelling and possible bruising for 2-3 days
  • Dry and tight skin
  • Tiny crusted areas occur all over that feel slightly rough and give a tanned appearance
  • Varying amounts of flaking/peeling may occur approximately 3 days after your treatment
  • Makeup is fine to use after 48hours, though just keeping the skin moist often looks better and assists in faster healing time
  • After the skin has shed it will have a healthy glow, feels softer, smoother and will be more even in color
  • It is important to protect the new skin from the sun by using a broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily

Potential complications

  • If the healing skin is incorrectly cared for it can prolong healing and possibly lead to infection or scarring
  • Possible herpes simplex outbreak if prone to cold sores
  • Hyper pigmentation (darker areas of pigment on the skin) lasting 1 to 12 months

How much does it cost?

Each Skin Needling treatment will vary in cost according to the size of the treatment area. Small areas start at $150 per session. Final price per session is determined at free consultation. Some treatment will require the use of a dermal roller which cost $25.00 and is yours to keep (you will need this for future sessions). You will be required to bring this with you for each session and is recommended for gentle home use 2-3 times a week between treatments. Skin needling takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete though you will need to arrive 45-60 minutes prior to allow for the application of a topical anesthetic.
